Today is David’s birthday. He is officially 1 year old!! I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone by!
He is now asleep for the night, a little earlier than usual–I think all the sugar from the cake got to him lol! He was sooo hyper for the first hour after eating cake and then before bed he was just laying on the floor rolling around.
I think that sugar crash affected my husband too.. I just woke him up from his 10 minute nap so he could go to the gym and he says to me: “Give me 5 more minutes. I was having this dream where I was pushing Davey on a swing–give me 5 minutes. I just wanna see where this goes..”
Too cute! Even in his dreams, he’s hanging out with David. I am so lucky to have such a great husband who loves his son so much and is such a great dad to him!
Here are some pictures from the day & from David’s birthday party a couple days ago. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I don’t have many pics from the party; just some my mom took.
(First pics are from today, last pics are from the party)
I made and decorated this cake all by myself. Turned out pretty good for an amateur, I think..
Please ignore our extremely cluttered table 😉
Yes! We grilled pineapple! For easy instructions, please check out my grilled pineapple recipe post.
Those would be cake mix cookies with m&ms, brownies, and rice crispy treats from this recipe I found on Pinterest.
And what you will also see in this pic is the biggest mistake I made all day–I left the cupcakes (chocolate cupcakes, with white chocolate mousse filling, and vanilla buttercream frosting) in their plastic containers in the hot, hot sun! It was like leaving them in a microwave! They melted! The frosting completely melted! I worked so hard to make them cute too! I even made sprinkle cupcake toppers for them! Oh well..
The confetti/polka dot table cloth I made using this tutorial from ohhappyday.com.
All-in-all the birthday was a success & a ton of fun! And one more thing I can cross off my Summer Bucket List!
